Waterford - The nine members of the Waterford firefighters' union voted today to take two furlough days next year, a move that will save the town $5,000 in next year's budget.
First Selectman Daniel Steward said the town will work with the firefighters to decide on the dates of the unpaid days.
Steward said the furlough days likely will be staggered among the membership throughout the year.
"We owe them a hearty thank-you," Steward said.
All of the town's unions except the Waterford Police Union have agreed to furlough days in the next year.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
