Another dismal showing by the UConn Huskies Wednesday night.

They're a hard team to watch. They were out-worked again in a bad 58-50 loss at Notre Dame.

ESPN expert Joe Lunardi believes the Huskies still have a chance to make the NCAA Tournament even with the loss. But they need three more wins.

Don't think the Huskies, 17-13, are capable of winning three more games.

Here's some reaction:

-- "Fundamentaly, we were so unsound," coach Jim Calhoun said. "From a coaching standpoint, it was embarrassing. ... We, as a team, weren't very good."

-- Calhoun on his team shooting 35.4 percent: "Shot selection was not what we wanted it to be."

-- "We've just not playing full speed," senior Jerome Dyson said. "That's the cause of them getting offensive rebounds and our turnovers. It has to do a lot with our mistakes right now."

-- We couldn't get the job done tonight," senior Stanley Robinosn said. "... We just came out flat-footed."

-- UConn's starting frontcourt of Robinson, Ater Majok and Charles Okwandu combined for just 10 points. Notre Dame forward Carleton Scott had 12 points.

Calhoun eventually switched to a smaller lineup, using junior guard Donnell Beverly who played 20 minutes.

"We got handled inside," Calhoun said. "That's why I went with a small lineup because it wasn't doing us any good to have a bigger lineup."

-- Notre Dame clogged the lane, preventing Dyson and guard Kemba Walker from penetrating for baskets. Dyson had just 10 points, making just 2-of-14 field goals. Walker had a team-high 15 points.

"When we did go to the basket, they collapsed on us," Walker said.

-- UConn had 13 assists and 15 turnovers. Dyson had a team-high five turnovers and senior Gavin Edwards had four.

Notre Dame only had seven turnovers.

-- With the loss, the Huskies dropped into a 12th place tie with Cincinnati at 7-10. They also guaranteed playing a first round game Tuesday in the Big East Tournament.

-- UConn finishes its regular season at South Florida Saturday.
