UConn and recruit Cleveland Melvin, a 6-foot-7 forward, made a mutual decision to split.
Melvin made a commitment in November, picking UConn over Seton Hall, South Florida, DePaul and Memphis.
According to a couple of reports, Melvin, a Baltimore native, wants to play small forward in college. UConn had planned for Melvin to play power forward.
UConn visits South Florida Saturday.
