Meet Our Makeover Winner

Christen Riedy, a resident of Killingworth, is the winner of Shore Publishing's 2010 makeover. The month-long process will take her on a whirlwind tour of shoreline spas, salons, and beyond in the quest to find that perfect, new look.

Currently, we're keeping Riedy busy not just at her workout sessions at IM=X Pilates Studio in Clinton, but also by asking her to keep a diary of her progress. Along with her written thoughts, look for full, multimedia coverage of Riedy's makeover here on Zip06.

Below, check out Riedy's progress so far at IM=X Pilates, and see a photo gallery to the right in related links. Come back for updates in the coming weeks leading up to the Reveal, which will be covered both online and in the Fashion on the Shoreline special issue in our March 25 newspaper.

36 Days to the Reveal

First thing to do for the makeover was to get started on the exercise program. Chose Pilates because I have never done it before and thought it would be fun to try something new. I get two private sessions and 10 group sessions. I have already had the two private sessions—first class is this Saturday, Jan. 30. I don't feel I need to lose weight, but I LOVE the thought of toning up and getting rid of some of the flab!

I am excited about the whole idea of the makeover—I have never had a chance for anything like this before! But I would be lying if I said I was not scared, too! I want a change but at the same time I'm scared—or maybe it is just nervous excitement? Anyway, BRING IT ON! Let's go for it!

33 Days to the Reveal

Had my first Pilates group session this morning at 11 a.m. I was a bit scared to go—I'm the type that gets nervous in new situations because I feel I will be the only one who does not know what I am doing and will get everyone else annoyed with me and I will feel like I am slowing everyone else down. But that was not the case at all today—today's class was one instructor, a husband and wife, and me. It was the wife's second class, the husband's first class. Turns out we were all in the same boat! It was a lot of fun!

31 Days to the Reveal

Had my second group Pilates class tonight at 5:15 p.m. Me, two other women (Shaun and Sally, I think), and the instructor. Both women are seasoned Pilates people, but it did not matter—they were very nice and very supportive. Did a few exercises I had never done before—every class has been different and every class has been fun. I ache, but not a lot. Legs hurt when I climb the stairs!

24 Days to the Reveal

Third Pilates class today at 5:15 p.m. Shaun and Sally were in the class. Feeling more and more comfortable with each class. Feel like I am getting stronger, too. Feel the ache in my thighs when I go up and down the stairs at home. The hour seems to fly by!

21 Days to the Reveal

Another Pilates class—5:30 p.m. Full class this time—five. All ages and there for all different reasons. Came in to the class with a pulled muscle in the back of my left shoulder (I think I pulled it shoveling snow yesterday!) and the class seemed to work out all the kinks!
