David and MaeLouise Kimes of Waterford celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 14, 2009, at a surprise party hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Tonilynn and Randy Wood.
The couple, expecting to be picked up for dinner by their daughter and son-in-law, were instead greeted at their door by a chauffuer who escorted them to a waiting limousine. After a romantic evening drive they were brought to the Wood residence in Waterford. Once there, they were surprised by more than 50 close friends and family at the catered affair where they renewed their wedding vows. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Bruce Peterson of Groton Heights Baptist Church of Groton.

Their lives have been blessed with three children and six grandchildren. They are daughter Tonilynn, her husband, Randy Wood, and children, Crystal, Charles and Hunter; and a son, Robert Kimes, all of Waterford, Also, a daughter, Roberta Makepeace, who has sadly passed on, and her children, Andrew and Christopher of Waterford, and daughter, Beth of Windham.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
