Hartford - Kalana Greene finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds and was named Most Outstanding Player as the UConn women's basketball team defeated West Virginia 60-32 Tuesday night for the Big East Conference tournament title.
Tiffany Hayes added 15 points, Tina Charles 12 and Maya Moore 10 for the top-ranked and No. 1-seeded Huskies (33-0), who won their 72nd straight game.
UConn set the NCAA record of 71 straight wins in the semifinals Monday night against Notre Dame, before taking on No. 2 seed West Virginia, the seventh-ranked team in the country. Liz Repella had 10 points for West Virginia (28-5).
Greene, a fifth-year senior guard and Big East all-star for the first time this season, finished shooting 7-for-8.
It was the third straight tournament title for UConn and 16th overall.
