ABSTINENCE WORKS

"There was a study that demonstrated incredible results for an abstinence-only program that was nonjudgmental and objective in nature. Other modalities of instruction - including what is probably done in NL and Groton - had two and three times more sexually active young people then the abstinence program."

NOT CEREBRAL

"Doubling down on sex education, I wager, would stand a better chance were sex a cerebral exercise. As it is, seems like taking more hammer to a house fire."

HOME RULE

"Education has to start at home. There needs to be discipline at home."

LOST VALUES

"When I was that age, our biggest fear which kept most from being in this situation was the fear of impregnating the girl and the fear of God when Dad found out. For the young woman, I'm quite sure, their fear was the stigma of a single, teen, unwed mother being pregnant. ... But that was a time when society actually had some values."

REALITY LESSON

"Direct unadulterated sex education may not suit those parents who believe their children are 'perfect little angels,' but it may be useful for those parents who care enough to look at society and current culture for what it is, and teach them enough to defend their 'babies' from themselves."
