The Garde's Oscar film festival has drawn to a close, but movie fans can rejoice because another film festival is beginning this week.
The 16th annual International Jewish Film Festival kicks off Monday with "Noodle," a comic drama from Israel about a twice-widowed flight attendant whose life is utterly changed by an abandoned boy from China.
Then there's a documentary about someone once described as "the most famous woman in America you've never heard of." Her name was Gertrude Berg, and she was absolute TV pioneer. She won the first Best Actress Emmy and was creator, principal writer and star of the radio-turned TV show "The Goldbergs."
The documentary, titled "Yoo Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg," features interviews with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, actor Ed Asner, and producer Norman Lear.
The festival is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut, Connecticut College Office of the Dean of studies and Hillel.
