Coach Jim Calhoun reached an agreement with UConn Thursday on a four-year contract, according to Andy Katz of ESPN.com.
"Let me offcially put to rest the speculation about my future at UConn," Calhoun told Katz in a statement through agent Jeff Schwartz. "We are close to finalizing a new contract and I plan on continuing as the head coach of the basketball team for several more years."
Calhoun's current deal expires June 30.
Calhoun, 67, is in his 24th season at UConn. He's battled health issues through his career, including three bouts of cancer. He missed seven games this season due to an undisclosed medical condition.
The Huskies, 17-15, lost to St. John's Tuesday in the Big East Tournament first round. They'll learn Sunday night when the NIT field is announced if their season will continue.
