Please do not curtail public's right to know

I answered the call of The Day's full-page ad to contact my legislators on the issue of the pending law to move public legal notices to the Internet. I stand with The Day in its argument.

Writing to my legislators, I cited the First Amendment to the Constitution. In regards to freedom of the press, it declares, "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press." Abridge means to curtail or lessen, as rights. I urged them to contemplate the issue before they vote.

Is this a red flag to warn the citizens of the amount of government creeping into our lives? Has The Day been awakened to this fact? Where did The Day go for help?

... We the people, of course.
