Good news for UConn basketball fans that coach Jim Calhoun has agreed to a new four year contract extension.
Calhoun needed to do something to stop the growing speculation about his future. Now the coaching staff can sell that UConn's Hall of Fame coach will be stomping the sidelines next season.
But retirement remains a possibility anytime before the end of the contract.
Calhoun will be 68 in May. He says he's healthy now but another medical leave of absence down the road could convince him to leave the coaching profession. He missed seven games this season for an undisclosed illness.
He takes losing as hard as anyone. And the Huskies won't likely be significantly better next season.
Here's hoping Calhoun sticks around for a few years. Just don't bet on it.
