Westerly _ A kayaker who capsized in the Pawcatuck River about 6 p.m. was able to make it to shore just north of the Stillman Avenue bridge.
Westerly firefighters and ambulance personnel as well as police from Westerly and Stonington responded to the report of a man in the swiftly flowing river. The river has flooded it banks in many areas because of this past weekend's heavy rain.
Westerly rescue personnel at the scene said two men had been kayaking in the river when one fell into the water. The man was not injured but was being examined by ambulance workers at the scene.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
