Preston - The Board of Education held a special meeting Monday to reaffirm the motions that were approved at last week's regularly scheduled meeting.
Last Monday, the Board of Education held its regular meeting at Preston Veterans Memorial School at 7:30 p.m., but the town calendar had a different location and time, which caused confusion among residents, some of whom showed up at an empty meeting room at Preston Plains School.
Board Chairman Pauline Andruskiewicz said after speaking with the board's attorney, the board decided to "err on the safer side" and hold another meeting to re-affirm the motions.
"We knew that there may be a possible FOI request and because the last meeting raises some doubt, we decided it's better to be safe than sorry," Andruskiewicz said.
Resident Michael Clancy asked the board for a letter as to why there is only one person on the sub-committee that was created to discuss the extension of Superintendent Jack Welch's contract, whether other options were investigated for Welch's position and what criteria were used to determine the two-year contract extension.
Due to scheduling conflicts, the next Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled to April 6 at 7 p.m., so all members can be in attendance.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
