Old Saybrook - The nonprofit Old Saybrook Ambulance Association plans to expand its facility at 316 Main St.
The expansion would add a third bay for another ambulance and provide the association with additional storage space and a bunk room, said attorney David Royston, who is representing the association.
The plan would require approval at a town meeting because the association's facility sits on town-owned land. The town leased the land to the association in 1982 for 99 years, Royston said.
At its March 4 meeting, the Board of Selectmen approved the concept of expanding the facility and amending the lease to reflect the expansion. The Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday unanimously approved a variance of the town's Flood Plain Ordinance to permit the addition.
