A Preston minor was arraigned Monday at New London Superior Court on charges related to a December 2009 home invasion in Norwich.
Jordan Nicholas, 16, of 22 Harris Fuller Road, was charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree accessory to robbery and sixth-degree larceny. Nicholas, who posted a $75,000 bond, appeared in court with his stepmother and defense attorney Adam A. Laben.
Three residents of 61 Otis St. in Norwich told police that two men forced their way into the home, one carrying a silver handgun and wearing a ski mask. They said he pointed the gun in the 19-year-old female victim's face and demanded money.
The 20-year-old male resident jumped from a second-story window, fearing for his safety, and broke his leg.
The two men took the 18-year-old male resident's cell phone before running out the door.
Nicholas told police that his masked, gun-wielding companion was Marquis Parker, 17. Parker was arrested and charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, criminal use of a weapon, and sixth-degree larceny. Nicholas told police that he and Parker had gone to the home to buy marijuana.
He pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $250,000 bond. He will appear in court for a pre-trial hearing on March 29.
Nicholas will return to court on April 12. He was expelled from Norwich Free Academy after his arrest, but told Judge Susan B. Handy that he is being tutored.
Handy ordered him to be supervised by the Alternative Incarceration Center while his case is pending.
