Norwich – Police this morning arrested a Rhode Island man who allegedly robbed a bank in the city last year.
Rocco P. Pizzi Jr., 40, of Johnston, was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree larceny. He turned himself in to police after they obtained an arrest warrant for him.
At about 4:45 p.m. Dec. 11, Pizzi went to the Chelsea Groton Bank branch at 50 Town St. and handed a teller a note that demanded cash, police said.
Pizzi then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. There was no weapon shown and no one was injured.
Police were able to obtain the warrant because of information they got about a late-model white Ford pickup truck that was seen in the area at the time of the robbery. With the assistance of Johnston, R.I., police, Norwich detectives were able to locate the truck.
Pizzi was held on $250,000 and is scheduled to be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court today.
With the Valentine's Day holiday approaching, we wanted to see if any of our readers ever received a Valentine's gift that was memorably bad.
