Local Fifth Grader Places in Essay Contest

Fifth grader Paige Giffault from St. Michael School in Pawcatuck took third place in the 16th annual Secretary of the State's Essay Contest. The topic of this year's contest was, "What person in Connecticut history do you admire most and why?" Fifth-grade participants were encouraged to write about their person's life and the contributions they made to Connecticut.

Paige chose Ella T. Grasso. She received a certificate from the Connecticut Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz and an additional certificate from State Representative Diana Urban.
