Gov. M. Jodi Rell has officially commended New London resident Jessica Patti, a registered nurse who began the nonprofit group Raising Haiti to provide medical volunteers and run clinics to the island nation.
In her statement issued last week, Rell said the recognition is a testament to Patti's "outstanding service and commitment to excellence."
"Through your tireless efforts in the earthquake-devastated country of Haiti, you have demonstrated your compassion and dedication to helping others rebuild their lives and receive the medical care they so desperately need," Rell said in her official statement, addressing Patti. "Your energy, enthusiasm, and leadership are truly impressive. This recognition celebrates your many contributions to the nation of Haiti and your devotion to the lives of others, especially Lina Supris. I congratulate you on your achievements and wish you continued success in the future."
Supris is a Haitian woman with cervical cancer who Patti and the nurses and doctors volunteering with her have helped care for, and recently brought to this country to receive care.
