The new Aki Japanese Restaurant in Norwich will celebrate its grand opening Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a food sampling of the restaurant's fare.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. sponsored by the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce. The guest speaker will be state Rep. Christopher Coutu, R-Norwich.
The restaurant also says any customer spending $100 there Thursday will receive a $50 gift card for a future visit.
The restaurant's hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m to 11 p.m. and Sunday noon to 10 p.m.
The Day hosted a web chat with New London Mayor Daryl J. Finizio to discuss the beginning of his new administration and news out of the city's police department.
