Hartford (AP) -- The Connecticut Elections Enforcement Commission has granted Lt. Gov. Michael Fedele an additional $312,500 in public financing for his Republican campaign for governor.
Wednesday's decision followed a state Supreme Court decision on Tuesday clearing the way for Fedele to receive public funds.
Fedele has already taken in more than $2.1 million from the Citizen's Election Program. He requested an additional $312,500 for his primary run, based on GOP rival Tom Foley's campaign activities. A federal appeals court last week ruled such extra funding unconstitutional.
But commission members said they remain obligated to grant the funds because the appeals court ruling has not taken effect.
