Westerly - A 4-year-old boy drowned Friday afternoon in a neighbor's above-ground pool.
Police said they responded to 29 Boiling Springs Ave. for a report of a 4-year-old boy who was missing. There was no response at the door, so police began canvassing the yard.
The officer found two people on the deck of a neighbor's pool at 31 Boiling Springs Ave. The young boy had just been pulled from the pool. The officer began CPR on the child until Westerly Ambulance arrived at the scene, police said.
He was transported to The Westerly Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police along with the Rhode Island Medical Examiner's Office, Department of Children, Youth and Families and Westerly building officials are investigating the incident.
The child's name is not being released, police said.
