Dunkin' litter piles up along roadside

Now that the 5-cent redemption on water bottles has commenced since last October, and with the current recession we are currently mired in, there has been an increased effort to recycle and get that redemption.

Fewer water bottles are on our roadside, but that has given us a new leader in roadside trash. Now with 14 locations in New London and Groton, it seems that customers from Dunkin' Donuts have taken the lead in discarding trash along roadsides.

An actual visual estimate after walking the streets for the past six years now puts Dunkin' Donuts customers at 65 percent of the littler I see; Gatorade/Powerade customers at 20 percent and the remaining 15 percent from customers of assorted businesses.

    Keep on chuckin'.
