Tantor Media Plans Aug. 28 Library Benefit Tag Sale in Old Saybrook

Tantor Media, Inc., the Old Saybrook company that produces audiobooks, is hosting an employee-driven tag sale on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tantor warehouse, 139 Mill Rock Road East in Old Saybrook.

This first-ever tag sale has several worthy causes, said Marketing Manager Amy Santo. First, it will help the company's 72 employees earn a few extra bucks by selling their own wares, such as furniture, household goods, sporting equipment, toys, clothes, and other items to the public; it helps the environment by "recycling' these items; and third, local libraries will benefit from the sale by receiving library edition audiobooks at no cost.

"Libraries have been struggling and dealing with budget cuts," said Santo. "We want to help by giving back to these institutions."

Tantor Media has committed to matching the profits from the tag sale in audiobooks to 14 shoreline libraries. Santo said each of the libraries is guaranteed to receive five audiobooks of its choice-a $400 value-regardless of the amount of funds earned. Anyone who purchases $20 or more in tag sale items can receive a free audiobook from a select collection. Light refreshments will be served. It will be held rain or shine.

Tantor Media, founded in 2000, has grown from three employees to 72. Co-owner Laura Colebank, a Connecticut native, and her husband Kevin and his brother Allen formed the company after working in a similar field in California. Kevin and Laura live in Clinton with their family.
