Aberdeen, Md. — The Connecticut Tigers' season came to a crushing end Sunday.
The Aberdeen IronBirds scored three runs in the bottom of the 13th inning to win the New York-Penn League game 8-7 and give the Tri-City ValleyCats the Stedler Division title and a playoff berth.
A Connecticut win and a Tri-City loss at Brooklyn Sunday would have given the Tigers the title and the playoff berth.
Connecticut (38-37) scored in the top of the 11th inning to take a 5-4 lead, but Aberdeen scored in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers scored two runs in the top of the 13th to take a 7-5 lead before the IronBirds rallied to win.
