Ledyard Council seeks ideas at budget forum

Ledyard - The Town Council will hold a public forum next Monday night to gather ideas and suggestions from taxpayers before town departments start assembling their initial budgets. "It's not structured, it's not a presentation - we want to collect ideas from people," said Terry Jones, the Town Council chairman. "It shouldn't be a surprise to people that the chances of holding taxes flat for another year are pretty small. And we'd like to hear from people who think we haven't cut back enough yet, or maybe that we've cut too far already." Town officials hope that by starting the budget process early, they can consider more substantial changes which take more time to implement. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday in the Town Hall Annex.
