East Lyme — A tractor-trailer truck driver from New Jersey is listed in critical condition this morning after a multi-truck accident Thursday night on Interstate 95 south.
Janos Siklosi, 59, of Williamstown, N.J., was driving a truck carrying cranberries when he rear-ended a flatbed tractor-trailer that was stopped for traffic half a mile south of Exit 74 at about 7:14 p.m. The flatbed in turn hit a box truck stopped in front of it.
Siklosi was trapped inside his truck and had to be extricated, according to state police. He was flown by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.
The southbound highway was closed for most of the night. The state Department of Environmental Protection and Consumer Protection also responded; it was not immediately clear why.
The other two drivers, Harris Nadel of Farmington, and Matthew Palma of Florida, were uninjured, according to police.
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
