New London - The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Monday that a New London man died Friday night as a result of multiple stab wounds and deemed his death a homicide.
Matthew Chew, 25, was fatally stabbed late Friday after leaving work at 2 Wives Gourmet restaurant at 45 Huntington St. and walking toward his apartment, less than a tenth of a mile away, at 73 Washington St.
Police said that at about 11:30 p.m. Friday, police received an emergency phone call reporting a man hit by a car. When police officers arrived, they discovered that he had been stabbed.
Chew was flown by Life Star to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died.
Deputy Chief Marshall Segar said in a statement released Monday, "This investigation is an agency priority. Police Detectives and Narcotics Officers have been working this case non-stop since Friday. More and more information on the case is coming in every minute. Pertinent press information will be released as it becomes available."
