The UConn women's basketball team puts its winning streak on the line tonight when it hosts Marquette at Gampel Pavilion at 7:30 in its Big East Conference home opener.
The two-time defending national-champion Huskies defeated Sacred Heart, 86-32, on Sunday for their 86th consecutive win, leaving them two wins shy of tying UCLA's NCAA record of 88 straight set in the 1970s.
The Huskies could potentially tie the record when they play Ohio State on Sunday, Dec. 19 at Madison Square Garden in the Maggie Dixon Classic and could set the record Tuesday, Dec. 21 against Florida State at the XL Center.
UConn senior Maya Moore, who broke the school's career scoring record in Sunday's win, leads the Huskies (8-0) with 23.4 points per game. Tiffany Hayes averages 16.
