Montville — Junior Kayla Paris hit a 3-pointer with three seconds left, lifting St. Bernard past Stonington, 40-38, Tuesday in girls' high school basketball.
Erin Amarello set up the game-winning shot by grabbing a rebound of a missed free throw and passing to Paris, who had 10 points overall. Amarello finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven steals for the Saints (2-1).
St. Bernard rallied for the win, outscoring Stonington, 13-4, in the fourth quarter.
Megan Rose Chapman scored 12 points and Lia Vann had 10 points for the Bears (0-3).
In other games:
• Alyssa Velles had 15 points and Anna Kudej 13 as Norwich Free Academy topped Waterford 54-37 in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division.
NFA led 36-30 at halftime before limiting the Lancers to seven points in the second half.
"I'm exhausted," NFA coach Bill Scarlata said of the first half. "I forgot what coaching was like the last two years (with an experienced team)."
Jahira Smith had nine points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals for NFA (2-1, 1-0) and Brittany Molkenthin had seven rebounds.
Adily Martucci scored 16 points for the Lancers (1-1, 0-1).
• Stephanie Jones had 17 points and Montville beat Lyman Memorial 52-32. Kim Bigelow added 11 points for Montville (1-1), which outscored Lyman 18-2 in the second quarter to take the lead for good. Lyman is 0-2.
• Haley Griffin scored 27 points to lead Plainfield to a 70-39 win over New London. Lexus Harris scored 10 points and had six rebounds for New London (1-1). Kim Bouton and Haley Beausoleil scored 12 points each for Plainfield (3-0).
• Aunisha Dillon scored 19 points to lead Fitch to a 42-38 win over Ledyard in an ECC Large Division game. Haley Cooper scored 11 for Fitch (3-0, 1-0). Freshman Bianca Matira had 18 points for Ledyard (1-2, 0-1).
• Katie Mahoney had 20 points, five rebounds and two steals as Bacon Academy beat Tourtellotte 61-30. Sarah Straker had four 3-pointers and 14 points for Bacon (2-0) and Kelly Dixon added nine points, four blocks and two steals. Liz McKinley had 15 points for the Tigers (0-2).
• Brooke Martel and Sam Rentz both scored 12 points as Griswold beat Killingly 63-34. Ali Ondreicka had three 3-pointers and 11 points for Griswold (1-1), which used a 22-5 third-quarter advantage to pull away. Devin Hill scored 14 for the Redgals (0-3).
• Michelle Lagrotteria scored 15 points and Claire Tocheny and Allison Stoddard each had 13 points, leading East Lyme past Woodstock, 54-38, in the ECC Large Division. The Vikings are 2-0 overall, 1-0 in the conference.
• Annie Luckhardt scored 12 points and added 11 rebounds in Wheeler's 33-22 win over Westbrook. Amy White chipped in four points and six steals for the Lions (2-1). Westbrook is 1-2.
Men's basketball
• Matt Cavalieri had 28 points and eight rebounds as Springfield College beat Connecticut College, 69-57. Darvis Rankins had 16 points for Springfield (6-4). Matt Vadas had 18 points for the Camels (5-4) and Rob Harrigan added 10 points.
• Damion Lee had 17 points and seven rebounds as St. Thomas More beat Robinson School of Trenton, N.J., 87-72. Jarell Byrd had 11 points and eight rebounds for T-More (9-1) and Adam Jones and Roy Mabrey both scored 16. Robinson is 11-8.
