UConn's Jordan Todman, a consensus All-American and the Big East Offensive Player of the Year, was named the 2010 ECAC FBS Player of the Year on Monday.
He was also named to the ECAC All-Star team along with teammates Zach Hurd of Waterford (offensive guard) and Dave Teggart (placekicker).
Todman, a junior running who is leaving a year early for the NFL, rushed for 1,695 yards (second in the nation) and 14 touchdowns in 12 games for the Huskies, including a career best 222 in a win over Pittsburgh on Nov. 11. He finished his career with 3,179 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Todman leaves as the only running back in school history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in two seasons.
Hurd, a senior, was a first-team All-Big East pick for the second straight year and blocked for four 1,000-yard rushers during his career: Todman (twice), Donald Brown and Andre Dixon. Teggart, a junior, was also a first-team All-Big East pick. He kicked a pair of game-winning field goals, including a career best 52-yarder in a win over South Florida that clinched UConn's first BCS bowl bid.
In other UConn football news, freshman running back Lyle McCombs has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policies. UConn had no further comment on the matter.
