Montville - A Colchester man is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Norwich Superior Court on charges that he assaulted a 2-month-old baby boy.
Joshua Murray, 22, of 57 White Oak Drive, is charged with first-degree assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
On Jan. 9 state police in Montville received a report from The William W. Backus Hospital that the baby was injured.
The victim arrived by ambulance from a home on Anthony Street in Jewett City unconscious and unresponsive.
Police said the baby sustained a head injury. The boy was transferred to the Children's Medical Center in Hartford for further evaluation.
Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad initiated the investigation. They interviewed the victim's biological mother and Murray, who is mother's boyfriend. The couple lived together.
As a result of the investigation, Murray was arrested. He is being held in lieu of a $100,000 cash bond.
Police said the baby is in stable condition and is in the care of the Department of Children and Families.
The reader web chat with Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohegan Gaming Authority, was held on Thursday, May 24.
