Hygienic highlights roll on

Remember when the Hygienic was a one-site, short-term show? No more, my friends. It's now an ongoing festival, with related events all over New London, and the fun continues this week.

Friday sees the opening of the "Photo-Gienic Show" at 230 State Street. This is described as Hygienic Art's Visual Scavenger Hunt; a dozen teams were unleashed on the city with a dozen topics they were assigned to capture in photos. They had 24 hours to do it. The results are being shown off in this exhibition.

On Friday, too, a fashion show hits the runway at the Crocker House Ballroom at 35 Union Street. Fashion in the Ballroom puts the spotlight on local fashion and jewelry designers. Among them: Valinda McGregor (label CHIK226 and Tithe), Laree Salmon (vintagechicinstyle.com), Cristin Gallagher (IMA), Susan Hickman (High Noon), Jessie English (Raw Culture), and Anna Lucas (annalucas.com).

And Saturday marks the return of Mayfly Playhouse 24, in which a series of one-acts are written, directed and rehearsed in just 24 hours. Those one-acts are performed at 8 p.m. in the Crocker House Ballroom. Mayfly Playhouse is presented by Hygienic Arts XXXII and Intentional Theater.
