Comic Tom Papa does stand-up at Foxwoods

Published February 17. 2011 4:00AM

Tom Papa has one of the more interesting resumes among stand-up comedians.

Let's examine, shall we, some of his movie credits. He had a small role as a business exec in "The Informant!" starring Matt Damon and directed by Steven Soderbergh. And he voiced the character of El Super Beasto in the animated film "The Haunted World of El Super Beasto" co-starring Paul Giamatti and directed by - believe it! - Rob Zombie. Papa co-wrote the script with Zombie, too, based on the comic book series that Zombie created.

So here's a guy who's worked with both Rob Zombie ... and Jerry Seinfeld. Papa has toured as an opening act for Seinfeld for more than a decade - although Papa's coming to Foxwoods' Fox Theater Sunday as a headliner.

TV viewers'll recognize Papa from his hosting gig on "The Marriage Ref" and for guest roles on the likes of "The New Adventures of Old Christine."

Papa's done a couple of Comedy Central specials, and he's got another one set to air later this year. It'll be directed by Papa's "Informant" director Soderbergh - not a bad director if you can get him.

- Kristina Dorsey

Tom Papa, 8 p.m. Sunday, Fox Theater, Foxwoods Resort Casino; $29.50-$49.50; 1-800-200-2882, comixatfoxwoods.com.
