Watson's 3-pointer lifts Blues

Sophomore's shot with 3.2 seconds remaining sends Williams boys over St. Andrew's, 63-62

New London - Drew Watson made a 3-pointer with 3.2 seconds left to give Williams School a 63-62 boys' basketball victory over St. Andrew's on Wednesday.

Watson, a sophomore, finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Blues (4-14) while Rashad Young scored 24 points and added three assists, three steals and two blocked shots.

Steve Parr scored 29 points for St. Andrew's (8-8).

In other games:

• New London completed a perfect run through the Eastern Connecticut Conference Medium Division with an 88-40 win over Bacon Academy. Torin Childs-Harris and Kris Dunn scored 17 points apiece for the Whalers (19-0, 10-0), who can complete a 20-0 regular season with a win at home over East Lyme on Tuesday, while Malcolm Simmons and Doug Henton each had 12.

"We're trying to keep the players motivated," New London coach Craig Parker said. "We're heading into the postseason, so we have to try to stay focused and sharp as a team. That's what we encourage and what we're trying to do, and I thought we did that tonight."

Tim Willauer led Bacon (12-6, 7-3) with 11 points.

• Norwich Tech rallied from a 21-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Grasso Tech in overtime, 69-63, in the Constitution State Conference. Hector Mendoza scored 10 points and Maurice Steele had six points and six assists - all in the third quarter - as the reserves closed the deficit to 12.

The Warriors (8-6) then outscored Grasso (12-6) 22-10 in the fourth quarter and dominated the overtime. Kyle Storz led Norwich Tech with 17 points while Drew Cannon led the Eagles with 23.

• Bilal Pankey's three-point play with 10 seconds remaining gave St. Thomas More a 65-64 victory over Hyde of Woodstock. Javon Thorbourne scored 23 points for T-More while Matt Midder had 14 points and eight rebounds and Allante Crocker had 11 points and four steals.

• Nick Carlson scored 17 points and Andrew Tyrol added 14, leading Old Lyme to a 62-42 win over Montville in a nonleague game. George Logan had 11 points for Old Lyme (9-9) and Robert Johnson led Montville (3-15) with 18 points.

Girls' basketball

• Kelsey Wilson scored a game-high 20 points, but Holy Family lost to Cheney Tech of Manchester 59-37 in the CSC. Shelby Grauer had 14 points and Wilson had five assists and three steals for Holy Family, which finished 2-17, 1-9.

Men's basketball

• Roy Mabrey scored 23 points as St. Thomas More rolled to a 73-58 victory over Winchendon. B.J. Cardarelli added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Chancellors (23-6) while Andre Drummond had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Indiana Faithfull finished with 10 points.

Women's basketball

• Larla Brown scored 20 points and fellow freshman Alex Hunko scored eight straight points during a key stretch in the second half as Coast Guard Academy snapped an 18-game losing streak with a 48-36 win over Mount Holyoke in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference. A third freshman, Kaitlin Ward, added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears (3-20, 1-16).
