Traffic is moving on Interstate 95 in the areas of Old Lyme and Old Saybrook as the two accidents that this evening backed up motorists for miles have been cleared by emergency personnel.
A four-car accident stalled traffic on Interstate 95 northbound for more than an hour, and a second accident -- on the Baldwin Bridge in Old Saybrook – caused delays.
The four-vehicle accident happened at about 5:15 p.m., and ambulances from five towns -- Essex, Old Lyme, East Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook -- responded.
At 7 p.m., traffic was still backed up several miles in both directions.
Information was scanty on the Baldwin Bridge accident, but it was reportedly also a multi-vehicle incident.
