Take in Art, Learn Some Pointers at Artisans Harbor in Old Saybrook

Artisans Harbor hosts a free evening celebration of the visual arts on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The event will feature demonstrations in a variety of media, including oil, watercolor, and glass painting; woodburning scrimshaw; and pottery. Visitors will also be able to meet Artisans Harbor's instructors and learn about upcoming spring classes. Wine, tea, and appetizers will be served.

Spring classes include Oil Painting with Bernie McTigue, beginning Tuesday, March 15; Drawing with Bernie McTigue, beginning Friday, March 18; Watercolor with and P.J. Cook, beginning Saturday, March 19; all from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. ($135 for six-week series). Wheel, Slab, Coiling Pottery with Kathy Citron will also be offered on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Artisans Harbor is at 188 Main Street in Old Saybrook. Gallery hours are Tuesday, 2 to 5 p.m.; Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.; and by appointment. For more information, contact 860-388-9070 or artisansharbor@yahoo.com.
