Old Saybrook — A routine traffic stop resulted in drug charges Thursday afternoon after police said they found cash and drugs in a resident's car.
Carl Ruitto, 53, of 35 Clark Street, was charged with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
Ruitto was initially stopped by the town's K-9 officer for an obstructed windshield, according to police. The officer suspected there were narcotics in the vehicle and used his patrol dog to search.
The dog found several bags of marijuana packaged for sale and Ruitto admitted he sells marijuana, according to police. Officers seized more than $14,000 cash from Ruitto and the vehicle.
Officers are still processing the vehicle and evidence and police said additional charges are possible. As of late Thursday afternoon, Ruitto's bond had not yet been set.
