Andre Drummond, who helped lead St. Thomas More to a 30-win season and a spot in the National Prep School tournament final, was named Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year on Thursday.
Drummond is the the first local player since New London's Allan Chaney was honored in 2008. Bacon Academy's Katie Mahoney was named the girls' winner last week.
Drummond, a 6-foot-10, 240-pound senior, averaged 15 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and four assists per-game for the Chancellors, who finished 30-7. He is expected to return next season as a post-graduate student.
