East Lyme - The local nonprofit organization Raising Haiti, which runs bimonthly medical clinics in Cite Soleil, Haiti, will have its Second Annual Fun Run & Charity Walk on April 30 at McCook Point Park in Niantic.
The fundraiser will include a 5k run race and a one-mile walk along the shoreline. Both will begin at 9 a.m.
To register for the walk or run, visit: http://www.raisinghaiti.com/Events.html, or sign up on the day of the event. Registration is $15 and includes a Raising Haiti T-shirt. All proceeds will be used to fund medical clinics in Haiti. Participants will be treated to snacks and music from Parties by Lee.
Raising Haiti, established in 2009 before the January 2010 earthquake, is staffed entirely by volunteers. Since its founding, volunteers have traveled to Haiti several times to run free clinics, providing food, education and other services as well as health care to hundreds of Haitians.
