Easter may be a few weeks away, but "Eggstravaganza," the town's annual candy hunt on the green, is just days away: Saturday April 9.
Sponsored by Guilford Parks and Recreation and Guilford Knights of Columbus, the free event for Guilford residents begins at 10 a.m. Special guest the Easter Bunny starts the first free-for-all candy dash for ages 3 and under; followed by a hunt for 4 to 5 year olds, then kids ages 6 to 7 and the final round, for kids ages 8 - 10. Don't forget your own basket!
In addition to scads of chocolates and jelly beans, some lucky kids will find other prizes from Parks and Rec, as well as some special chocolate bunnies; sprinkled among the candy for each age group. Free face painting and crafts will be set up for kids to enjoy, too.
And here's a tip: great prizes are available to kids in each age group sporting the most notable Easter Bonnet or Top Hat. Only a few generally enter the little-known category each year, so chances could be good for those who take a moment to arrive in an appropriate topper!
In case of inclement weather, Eggstravaganza will be held same time, same place on Saturday, April 16. Call (203) 453-8068 for weather updates/more details.
