This isn’t about voting Democratic or Republican or Libertarian or some other political bent. It’s about where you vote.
Norwich registrars have been studying street maps and voting precinct lines in an effort to cut the number of voting precincts in half from 10 to 5. Both the Republican and Democratic town committees have endorsed the result and it goes before the City Council on Monday.
You can check out the proposed new voting precincts on the council agenda. Looking up the council agenda is a bit complicated. Go to the city website at www.norwichct.org, click on the City Council link on the right, choose a category for agendas or minutes, then a date and there’s the agenda. I know, they should work on that.
Exhibits A through E describe the new voting precincts and street boundaries. It might help to have a Norwich street map when you’re checking it out.
It’s a busy council agenda Monday, with the public hearing on the proposed purchase of the Marina at American Wharf, adopting a preliminary budget and even extending the time period for the Capehart Mill developers. But if you want, you can comment on the proposed new voting precincts, which is Resolution 4 at the end of the agenda.
