2011 marks two important events in the history of North Branford Fire Department Ambulance Company 4.  March 26, 2011 represented the kick-off of Advanced Life Support services.  Since the inception of Company 4, members certified as Medical Response Technicians (MRT) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) have functioned at the Basic Life Support level.  Advanced Life Support, administered by Paramedics, provides more skills in the field that will help patients have more favorable outcomes.

Also, Memorial Day 2011 marks the 25th anniversary of Company 4.  In fact, during the 1986 Memorial Day parade, the ambulance was dispatched to their first call.  On that first day, the ambulance responded to four calls and confirmed the need for an in-town ambulance.

Two events are being planned to commemorate the 25th anniversary.  First, all members, past and present, are invited to march in the Memorial Day parade.  It will be held in the North Branford end of town (just like 1986) and members can gather on Commerce Drive at 9:30 on Monday May 30. This truly marks the actual anniversary of Company 4.  Past members are encouraged to wear whatever uniform or jacket they may have.  Please RSVP by May 21, 2011 so that a rough count can be determined.

Secondly, a 25th anniversary reunion is being planned for Saturday June 25th at Northford Park (Middletown Avenue, Northford) from 2 p.m. to dusk.  The cost will be $10 per attendee.  Please RSVP to Captain Laura Burich at 203-627-9098 or Deputy Chief Anthony Esposito at 203-627-7278 by Saturday June 4, 2011.  Checks can be made out to NBFDA Company #4 and mailed to NBFDA Company 4, P.O. Box 322, Northford, CT 06472.  Plans are also in the works for a group picture to be taken at 4 p.m. that day.

Facebook events have been created for both the parade and reunion.  Those on Facebook are asked to stop by those pages, leave comments and post any pictures they may have.
