As expected, at its May 17 meeting, the Town Council voted to approve its recommended $47.32 million town budget, by a vote of 7 for, 1 against (with one absence). Town Council member Joanne Wentworth made the sole dissenting vote.

The new fiscal year's budget becomes effective July 1, 2011 and pushes the mill rate to 27.77 mills, for a 3.9 percent increase to the tax rate over the current mill rate.
