UPDATE: Police identify Groton City police officer found dead at station

Groton — Police Chief Bruno L. Giulini confirmed that Lt. Thomas Forbes was the officer who was found dead in his office at about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

State police said there was "no criminal aspect" involved in Forbes's death.

Forbes, whose body was discovered by a fellow officer, was a 30-year veteran of the department.

Giulini said the state police Eastern District Major Crime Squad and the New London State's Attorney Office are conducting the investigation.
