Resident Christi Burton has asked me to thank those who responded to a recent story in the Courier asking readers to help support her Memorial Day weekend Angelride effort to assist Calvin Leete School's "Just for Josh" fundraising campaign. She notes that donations are still being accepted, through June 15. Any amount via check should be made out to Calvin Leete PTO (with "Angelride for Josh" in memo), c/o 280 South Union St. Guilford CT 06437.
Josh, a first grader, has been diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma cancer. Burton, a mom of three boys, doesn't know Josh or his family, but says,"... I shudder at the thought of what this family is going through. That is why I am reaching out more than I am normally comfortable doing. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to this family and given these circumstances I don't believe there are too many higher missions in life than helping a child who is seriously ill living in our town. "
