Your eighth grade student is reading her way through the school's required summer reading, but some of her choices are on a long reservation list at the library. Is there another option?
Your high school sophomore has signed up for an American Literature Honors course at Hand come the fall. You've looked at the required reading list. You were sure you had a copy of Steinbeck's "East of Eden" in the bookcase upstairs. Can't find it?
For both these problems, and for your summer reading pleasure overall, it's Friends of Scranton Library to the rescue. The Friends is holding its annual used book sale next weekend – July 29, 30 and 31 – at Academy School, and this year there will be a new "Kids & Teens" room that will offer, among other features, a large selection of books from the high school and grades 7 and 8 reading lists.
