Deputy Police Chief Michael Doody's position remains eliminated but that could change as an injunction has been filed on Doody's behalf in Superior Court in New Haven, with evidence to be heard in late August.

The injunction's challenging the police commission's vote and is being filed by an outside attorney. Town Attorney John Gesmonde has said that July 14 vote was made without following proper procedure regarding amending the agenda and should therefore be invalid (see "Deputy Chief Cut" in past Reporters Notes).

The vote was to cut to the department's Deputy Chief's $83,000 position in response to a $110,000 budget cut for the new fiscal year.
