The town's back to school date has been pushed to post-Labor Day, post-Tropical Storm Irene.

Originally set to open Sept. 1, North Branford Public Schools are now set to begin the 2011-12 school year on Tues. Sept. 6, according to the following information posted on the school website:

"Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Irene, the first day of school for students has been delayed to Tuesday, September 6th. All previously scheduled orientations and open houses have been cancelled or postponed."
