Kathy Kimball Tredwell, a Wheeler High School graduate from North Stonington, has been selected for induction into the E-Club Hall of Fame at Eastern Connecticut State University, where she is the only first team All-American in the history of the volleyball program.
Kimball, a 5-foot-11 middle hitter, was a three-time all-region and All-New England selection and a first team AVCA Division III All-America as a junior in 1993 when she ranked second nationally in attack percentage (.413) and ninth with an average of 4.08 kills per game.
The 18th E-Club Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30 at noon at the Betty R. Tipton Room in the Student Center. Tickets are priced at $45 and must be reserved in advance by contacting Dr. David Yeo at (860) 465-5166 or at yeo@easternct.edu or Scott Smith at (860) 465-4326 or at smithsc@easternct.edu.
Kimball helped the Warriors to two NCAA and two ECAC tournament berths in her 155-match career and an overall four-year record of 126-49 (72.0 percent). She was a three-year starter as a sophomore in 1992 and junior in 1993 and as a fifth-year senior in 1995 (she missed all but the first match of 1994 with a back injury).
With Eastern facing the top Division III teams on the East Coast throughout her career, Kimball amassed 1,362 kills and a career .384 attack percentage, 383 blocks, and 607 digs. Kimball still ranks first all-time in program history in total blocks and block solos, second in kills and attack percentage and fifth in total attack attempts.
