What are the major issues for your town? The major issues regarding education in Griswold are providing a quality education for all students within the constraints of the current economic climate. We also have a building project coming to completion and it is our responsibility to maintain and maximize the townspeople's investment in our beautiful school campus.

What makes you the best candidate for this office? have well-rounded experience in different aspects of education. I am an experienced board member with a good understanding of board goals and responsibilities. As a public high school teacher I live the mission of educating children on a daily basis and know what schools and teachers need to be successful. I am also completing coursework toward an administrative certificate and through that experience have gained a deeper understanding of school management and the challenges we will face as public education transforms over the next several years.

What was the last book you read, and what did you think of it? I read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. It was one of my son's assigned summer reading books. The main character is a fictional nine year old boy whose father died in the World Trade Center on 9-11. What impressed me most about this book was how the mother of this very precocious child recognized that the best learning is that which is self-directed, self-motivated and challenging. She allowed him to find his own way to healing and self-forgiveness while she made sure he stayed safe without him knowing that she was watching over him.
